BRIDGEND, Wales, March 2017 – Econotherm, in conjunction with Spirax Sarco Plc, has successfully commissioned a 6.3-MW two-stage steam generator on board a CNOOC oil production platform in the Bohai Sea.

The unique design of unit utilises more than 1,100 six-metre heat pipes, and delivers up to 8000 kg/h of 10 Barg steam for use in the downstream process.

Connected to a Mars Solar 100 gas turbine, the unit was selected for its small footprint and high reliability given its criticality to the overall functioning of the platform. The unit is responsible for abating more than 9,000 tons per annum of CO2 emissions.
